London’s Selfridges To Launch Drive-Thru Service.

Fashion might be many things, but one thing it’s typically not is convenient.

Shopping for fashion, however, is about to get a lot easier for Londoners. The British luxury retail giant Selfridges has announced that they’re developing a new drive-thru service for their flagship store. Known as click and collect, the service will allow customers to order products online and pick them up at their convenience. The company is outfitting their famous Oxford Street location with a drive-thru lane at the back of the shop where customers will be able to pull in and have their pre-selected Prada or Pucci handed to them without ever having to leave the car.

While the new service isn’t up and running yet – Simon Forster, Selfridges’ multi-channel director tells the London Evening Standard that they’re hoping to launch early next year – customers can pre-order their items and collect them in-store in the meantime. Of course, the company already offers home delivery for items purchased at and online shopping has gone a long way in upping the ease factor of filling your closet. Yet even the savviest e-shopper knows that there are times when home delivery just won’t do. Think waiting around for the delivery person or paying extra for express shipping.

The buy and collect option aims to streamline the process, allowing customers to peruse products at their leisure online and pick-up their selections when it fits their schedule. And according to Forster, customers can expect the same level of service they’re already accustomed to inside Selfridges’ walls. “It will not just be the first drive-through service, it will be the best.”

New Year’s Resolutions To Keep In Mind

Although this is a commencement speech, I wanted to take advantage of the fact that tomorrow is New Year’s eve and put this speech on my blog. This year, instead of making empty resolutions such as going more to the gym and losing those 10 extra pounds I decided to make more substantial resolutions, such as the ones in this video. I hope you take something away from this speech, I know its been five years since the first time I heard it yet it still teaches me something new every time.

The September Wars

September is a very significant month for the fashion industry. It is a month where designers launch their collections for the new season and display them in the multiple fashion weeks that are held in in the big fashion capitals of the world. However September also represents a month when magazines launch their reviews of these shows and their forecasts for the upcoming year’s trend. It is no coincidence that this is every publications thickest issue and also the issue with the most expensive ad space. Most reputable fashion publications compete to outsell the other, and their tactic is very simple: the magazine with the best cover has the best odds of winning this game. As people who wear many hats (literally), we know that we feel differently when we’re wearing a beautiful outfit, and when we just climb into what’s the most comfortable…and now, we have proof. Scientists part ofThe Journal of Experimental Cognition have been researching the effect that clothing has on the way we think and act, a phenomenon called “enclothed cognition”…and here’s the magical part: You have to be wearingthe clothes for it to take effect. According to the New York Times, if you wear someone else’s white coat and believe it came from a doctor, your ability to pay attention dramatically increases, but nothing happens if you think it came from a painter. “You have to wear the coat, see it on your body and feel it on your skin for it to influence your psychological processes,” Dr. Galinsky said, before he went on to explain how dressing like a pimp on Halloween made him feel more self-assured.
