Shopping Bucket list

Self- Explanatory

A Celine Boston Bag. As soon as I make up my mind on which color I want it in, I’m getting it!!

A vintage Luis Vuitton travel trunk. Of course I have no intention of traveling anywhere with it, the weight of the trunk alone would exceed the pounds you’re allowed to travel with when you’re flying commercial. I would have it in my living room and fill it with books. I guess I have to wait until I move into a bigger apartment to get it.

Ray Ban Cat Eye Frame Acetate Sunglasses

Ray-Ban cat eye sunglasses. No use buying those in the middle of winter; summer get here already!!

Hermes Evelyne messenger bag. Because who says you have to be 50 to wear Hermes?

3.1 Phillip Lim

3.1 Phillip Lim leather two tone  motocross jacket.

Sandro

Sandro leather and knitted jacket.

This obsession with jackets is getting very unhealthy.

You deserve better, Never settle.

I am a quote freak. If my last post didn’t make that obvious then you are not a very perceptive person. I have a quote for pretty much every situation imaginable. But one of the recent quotes that has comforted me like no other was said to me by one of my best friends, regarding my fear to go after what my heart desires. She said: “never believe you’re not good enough to deserve what you want”

I guess this is what I want…

Never underestimate the impact you’ve had on my life MC.

Suit up!!

Barney Stinson said it and you should do it!  Anyone who’s ever been in my closet knows that I’m obsessed with blazers and jackets. This piece of clothing can dress up even the simplest of outfits and automatically adds elegance to any look. I guess I’m not the only one feeling this craze since designers such as Phoebe Philo of Celine, Isabel Marant, Karl Lagerfeld and Pierre Balmain have all incorporated blazers and jackets in their recent collections

 Isable Marant Etoile Blazers

However, you don’t have to drop serious cash on a designer jacket since stores such as J.crew and Zara renew their extremely well tailored blazer collections every season with designs and fabrics that are as innovative and beautiful as a designer label. And you know a well tailored piece of clothing can make anyone look like a million bucks.

Sandro Sandro, my absolute favorite french store.

Sweatpants are a sign of defeat…and other ‘Karlisms’

Recently notable for calling Adele “fat”, Karl Lagerfeld is not only famous for being the mastermind behind the house of Chanel, but also for his unapologetic remarks about life love & fashion. Here are a few of my favorite Karl quotes:

“Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants.”

— Karl Lagerfeld

I don’t like standard beauty, there is no beauty without strangeness.
-Karl Lagerfeld

“If you spend your time waiting for the inspiration to come to you, for the ideas to “gush forth”, it will be too late. It is like with magazines: there is a deadline…we have deadlines and that is a healthy form of discipline. it creates ideas.”

Karl Lagerfeld

“There is only one thing I am really interested in, and that is knowing.”

— Karl Lagerfeld

“What i like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.”

— Karl Lagerfeld

“Clear thinking at the wrong moment can stifle creativity.”

— Karl Lagerfeld

“When people want to be liked for what they did, they should stop.”

— Karl Lagerfeld

“People who say that yesterday was better than today are ultimately devaluing their own existence.”

— Karl Lagerfeld

“Don’t use expensive clothes as a screen for your personal doubts. Be proud of yourself and not only because you wear expensive designer clothes. They are great, but lots of people are happy without them.”

— Karl Lagerfeld

“I’m living my memoir, I don’t need to write it.”

— Karl Lagerfeld, Amen to this one sir

Smart has the plans, Stupid has the stories.

As you may have guessed from previous posts, I’m really into advertising. However there is a specific campaign that touched my heart like no other; and that is Diesel’s ‘Be Stupid” campaign. Its brilliant in its simplicity and full of sarcasm- and you know I adore sarcasm. Kind of an antidote of what we are taught to believe in school, that smart choices will lead you to better things. NOT

Here it is…

Our Crappy Culture

No piece of news this year has left me more appalled than the fact that Snooki is a best-selling author. I mean not only does she get to write a book documenting whatever nonsense goes through her mind; but so many people felt the desire to read it that it actually made the New York Times best-selling list. This made me analyze how crappy our culture has really become. We over glorify people such as Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton and Snooki, who are notable for doing absolutely nothing- or as Joan Rivers said in the Grammy’s: Paris (Hilton) is here to claim her lifetime UNachievement award.

However we tend to forget that behind these ‘socialite party girls’ are parents and grandparents who had to dedicate enormous amounts of time and effort to reach the social standing these girls enjoy-so why don’t we glorify them instead? These girls don’t only live these lifestyles, but also feel entitled to them. As if the world owed the something because of their last names.

But what really inspired me to take a look around and realize how absurd we’ve become was Babe Walker, the smartass behind the twitter handle @whitegrlproblems. I started following her about five months ago thinking this was just a girl who made fun of the Kardashian types I criticized before. That is until she published a memoir where she elaborates to us what her “problems” really are. White Girl Problems- the book (also a New York Times best-seller), shows us how lethal boredom can be. Babe Walker, the author and protagonist of this story never had to work for anything she got in life. No one expected anything from her, and everything was just handed to her. She doesn’t understand what it means to work towards a goal, or the satisfaction it feels to achieve it. Her problems come from excess and not from deficiency.

Yet her book about her “struggles” in her path to nothingness still became a best-seller. What happened to the days where we watched sitcoms about regular people who achieved normal but good things in life. What void are we trying to fill by fantasizing about the  lifestyles of people like Babe Walker and Paris Hilton; who lead a superficial life and believe their existential problems to be real ‘strugs’. Next time go buy a book written by someone who’s dead, I hear Shakespeare is quite talented.

They write songs about your face

After about 18 blog posts, where I introduced myself, talked about my 3 great passions (fashion, food & partying) with a kick of my personality in every post, I feel its about time I show my face.

That’s me! your life loving party girl. I dont believe I have any special talents other than a huge desire to learn from everything and everyone that surrounds me. I am a passionately curious person, which has probably led me towards everything great that’s happened in my life. Caffeine is my best friend, sarcasm is my second language (and I speak it fluently), magazines are my drug, my friends are my life.

So now that you have a face to associate with the girl writing all these witty posts, I promise next post will contain a little more substance.

Find eternity in every moment ~
